Congratulations! You will be the one handing out the Awards.

Whether it is the highest honor someone in your industry can earn or a simple certificate for Best Dressed at Breakfast, you as the presenter of the award need to get certain things right. Firstly, be 100% sure you are pronouncing the recipient’s name correctly. If you are unsure, speak directly with the person. Do not get this information second-hand. Naturally, know the exact title of the award.  Make sure you can say both the recipient’s name and the title of the award from memory.  When it comes time to present, handle the award (certificate/statue/trophy) as though it was the King’s crown—respectfully and with care. If the recipient has an opportunity to say a few words, step back from the lectern/microphone so the ‘spotlight’ is on them. Lead the applause.
